Drumming is the best!
Drumming gets you into a rythym with your hands.
Drumming has two beats, a slow beat and a fast beat.
But the best thing about drumming is having fun and sharing.

On Tuesday we went to Omana Regional Park.
At Omana we set traps to save the Dotiral bird. When we go to Omana we also plant trees and we feed the lambs. We gave the lambs warm milk out of a bottle. All of us were good, we had a barbeque there. We cooked up some sausages. After wards we went to McDonalds to buy a cheeseburger and some hot chips. When we got back to school we had assembly. I had a brilliant day.

The 5 Elements of Destruction are a test of the key parts of a human being. It is very like the test that you take to be accepted into the fire service – but it is Waimokoia Styles!!
We challenge you! Has your class got what it takes?! If you have, let us know how you go… especially you guys in Room 1, Room 3, and Room 6 at Waimokoia!
We’ll have photos of our DESTRUCTION up as soon as training starts! Here are the categories…
Speed
-
The kids sprint from one end to the other side of the field.
-
Next they move on to the monkey bars – they have to swing off all monkey bars in the adventure playground.
-
The students must complete both parts in 3 minutes to gain a pass.
Endurance
-
Students must jog up and down the stairs 5 times
-
Students must run 3 laps of the field and then head to the gym.
-
To end, students have to run 15 laps of the gym.
-
All parts of this section must be completed in 15 minutes to pass.
Smarts
-
Students must try to answer 10 questions about fire.
-
They must get 10 out of 10 correct!
-
Students get 10 seconds to answer each question.
-
If a student does not get 10 correct, or if they go over their time limit, they DO NOT PASS!
Courage
-
There will be objects or cones set up on the floor – these can be considered fire!
-
If the student touches the ‘fire’ they will be burnt – and points will be deducted!
-
Students get into pairs – one is blindfolded, one is the guide.
-
The guide navigates the blind student through the obstacle course
-
The students start with 100 points – each time the blind student hits ‘fire’ they lose 10 points.
-
Students must end with 50 points or more to pass this stage!

On the day we fought the Europeans, on the island east of the North Island, the chief told us to take him and thirty-two warriors to go to the South Island. The reason is so that the chief and the warriors had time to treat their wounds and to train. Forty-four minutes later the Europeans arrived.
The Europeans went for the injured first so the chief and I protected them. We killed nineteen of them but they tricked us with a sneak attack and they got us from behind. Then they ran away back to WHAREKAURI. We got into the fastest WAKA we had and chased them down. Eventually they gave up and said ‘we own this land but you can have some but you have to sign the Maori Treaty of Waitangi.’….
To Be Continued! Stay tuned for the next installment…
